Ready Meals
UK expenditure on ready meals is forecast to grow at just 1.3% per year to 2012.
Although the UK market for ready meals including retail and foodservice is now worth £3.5bn, ready meals only constitute 7% of all main meal occasions. While sales of chilled ready meals has grown significantly, volume has not kept pace with value and the UK is now experiencing a slowdown in sales of chilled meals while there has been a small resurgence in sales values of frozen.
Faced with a less confident and more financially pressed consumer we expect to see little growth in ready meals consumption over the next few years.
This report examines the prospects and opportunities facing manufacturers of ready meals in the UK with latest data and forecasts to 2012.
